# Managing Geofences

These actions require the **View Geofences**, **Manage Geofences** and **Tag Geofences** permissions.

## Adding Geofences

1. From the GAP Admin home page, click "Geofences" under the "Intel" section.
2. Click the "+ New Geofence" button.
3. Enter a geofence name in the "Geofence name" text box.
4. Select a tenant in which the geofence will reside from the "Tenant" drop-down list.
5. If you want the geofence to be accessible to users in sub-tenants, check the "Available to subtenants" check box.
6. Use the "+ Add Tags" button to tag the geofence.  To create a tag, enter a name in the "Tag name" text box and a value in the "Tag value" text box.  Repeat this step as required, the click the "Done" button.
7. Enter a geofence width in metres into the "Geofence width (metres)" text box.
8. Choose a geofence type but clicking on either the "Polygon", "Circle" or "Line" buttons under "Geofence Shape".
9. Draw the relevant shape on the map, following the on-screen instructions.  The map type can be changed using the layer tool under the zoom buttons at the top right-hand side of the map.
10. Set the colour for the geofence using the "Geofence colour" picker.
11. Set the transparency for the geofence using the "Geofence transparency" slider.
12. Select the minimum and maximum zoom levels at which the geofence will be visible on the GAP Portal map using the "Min zoom" and "Max zoom" text boxes respectively.
13. Click the "Save Changes" button.

## Editing Geofences

1. From the GAP Admin home page, click "Geofences" under the "Intel" section.
2. Click on the name of the geofence you want to edit.
3. To change the name, enter a new name into the "Geofence name" text box.
4. If you want the geofence to be accessible to users in sub-tenants, check the "Available to subtenants" check box.
5. Use the "+ Add Tags" button to tag the geofence.  To create a tag, enter a name in the "Tag name" text box and a value in the "Tag value" text box.  Repeat this step as required, the click the "Done" button.
6. To change the geofence width, enter a new value in metres into the "Geofence width (metres)" text box.
7. To edit the shape, click the "Edit" button.  To change the shape type and redraw, click the "Redraw" button.
8. Draw the relevant shape on the map, following the on-screen instructions.  The map type can be changed using the layer tool under the zoom buttons at the top right-hand side of the map.
9. To change the geofence colour, select a new colour using the "Geofence colour" picker.
10. To change the transparency for the geofence, use the "Geofence transparency" slider.
11. To change the minimum and maximum zoom levels at which the geofence will be visible on the GAP Portal map, use the "Min zoom" and "Max zoom" text boxes respectively.
12. Click the "Save Changes" button.

## Deleting Geofences

1. From the GAP Admin home page, click "Geofences" under the "Intel" section.
2. Click on the name of the geofence you want to delete.
3. Click the "Delete Geofence" button.
4. At the confirmation prompt, click the "Delete Geofence" button.
