Provisioning Iridium Devices

Iridium Extreme

Before you set up an Iridium Extreme device for use with GAP, you must ensure that you have provisioned the handset on Iridium SPNet for SBD or LBS.

If you are not familiar with SPNet, please contact your airtime provider.

Obtain the registration PIN code from the GAP Portal:

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Devices" from the banner menu.

2. Click the device you want to register.

3. Click "Configure Device" under the "Device Actions" section.

4. Click "Advanced".

5. Note the value in the "PIN Code" text box.

On the Iridium Extreme device:

1. Using the keypad, enter *#575# to put the phone in registration mode. The phone should display a 5-digit registration number.

2. Enter the PIN number from the GAP Portal you obtained in the previous steps.

You will need to configure the device in SPNet to send messages to GAP.

Please contact the GAP Support Desk for the relevant information to enter into SPNet.

Iridium GO!

When creating a device of type Iridium GO! on GAP, use the device's IMEI as the device ID and ensure that the device's phone number is entered into the "Phone Number" field.

Configuring Tracking

Contact the Support Desk to obtain the e-mail address to enter at step 3.

1. Log on to the device’s administrative web interface.

2. Click "Location Options" from the banner menu.

3. Enter the e-mail address into the "Tracking Recipient" and "Quick GPS Recipients" text boxes.

4. Select the desired tracking frequency from the “Tracking Frequency” drop-down list.

5. Click the "Save" button.

Configure SOS

Contact the Support Desk to obtain the e-mail address to enter at step 4.

1. Log on to the device’s administrative web interface.

2. Click "Location Options" from the banner menu.

3. Click "SOS Settings" from the left-hand side menu.

4. Enter the e-mail address into the "Message Recipients" text box.

5. Click the "Save" button.

Iridium Edge Solar

You will require access to the Iridium Edge Solar Administration Portal. If you do not have access, please contact your service provider.

Before you set up an Iridium Edge Solar device for use with GAP, you must ensure that you have provisioned the device on Iridium SPNet. Please contact the Support Desk for more information.

1. Go to the Iridium Edge Solar Administration Portal and log in.

2. Click "Users" from the left-hand side navigation menu.

3. Select you user account.

4. Click the (eye) icon next to the "API key" text box to copy your API key to the clipboard.

5. Go to the Geoforce API.

6. Click the (Set Headers) icon on the left-hand side navigation menu.

7. In the "Header Key" text box, enter "Authorization" (without the double quotes).

8. In the " YOUR API KEY HERE" text box, paste the value in your clipboard.

9. Click the "Save" button.

10. Enter the following JSON in the left-hand pane, replacing the "<ESN>" placeholder with your device's ESN. query Devices { devices(filter: {esn: ["INSERT ESN HERE"]} ) { nodes { esn encryptionKeys{ cipher value } } } }

11. Click the "Send Request" button.

12. Locate the second "value" property in the "encryptionKeys" array in the JSON result that corresponds to the tdes cipher and copy this to the clipboard (without the double quotes).

13. Log in to the GAP Portal and create a new device of type "Iridium Edge Solar". See Adding Devices for more information on creating devices.

14. Once you have created the device, click "Configure Device" under the "Devices Actions" section.

15. Click "Advanced".

16. Click "Manage Encryption Key".

17. Paste the value you copied in step 11 into the "Encryption Key" text box and click the "OK" button.
