# Filters

You can use filters to configure what information is displayed on the GAP Portal.

Filters can be based on one or more of the following:

* Tenants
* Groups
* Collections
* Specific devices
* Device type
* Device state
* Device status
* Device tags
* Last message date

Filters you create apply to your user account only.

## Applying Filters

When a filter is applied, the filter icon in the GAP Portal banner menu will show a red <i class="fa-circle-info">:circle-info:</i> (info) icon and a grey banner will appear with the name of the filter.

To apply an existing filter:

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Select an existing filter from the "Filters" drop-down list.  To clear a filter, select "None" or click the <i class="fa-x">:x:</i> (close) icon on the grey "Filter applied" banner.

## Adding Tenant Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Tenant, Group or Collection".
3. Select "Tenant" from the "Select Tenant, Group or Collection" drop-down list.
4. Select the tenant from the next drop-down list.
5. If you want to include sub-tenants of the selected tenant, check the "Include Subtenants" check box.
6. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Group Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Tenant, Group or Collection".
3. Select "Group" from the "Select Tenant, Group or Collection" drop-down list.
4. Select the group from the next drop-down list.
5. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Collection Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Tenant, Group or Collection".
3. Select "Collection" from the "Select Tenant, Group or Collection" drop-down list.
4. Select the collection from the next drop-down list.
5. Click the "OK" button.
6. To save the filter, click the "Save" button.
7. Enter a name in the "Name" text box.
8. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Device Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Devices".
3. Select the specific devices you want to filter from the list.  You can search using the "Search for devices and check those to be included" text box.
4. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Device Type Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Device Type".
3. Select the specific device types you want to filter from the list.
4. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Device State Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Device State".
3. Select the specific device states you want to filter from the list.
4. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Device Status Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Device Status".
3. Select the specific device status you want to filter from the list.
4. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Device Tag Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Device Tag".
3. Enter the tag name in the "Tag Name" text box.
4. To filter based on whether the tag value is set to any value, select "Devices Where Tag Value Is Set".  To filter based on specific tag values, select "Devices Where Tag Contains Value" and enter the value in the "Tag Value" text box.
5. Click the "OK" button.

## Adding Last Message Date Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Click "Filter by Message Date".
3. Select a time unit from the "Time Unit" drop-down list.
4. Enter the number in the "Tag Period" text box.
5. Click the "OK" button.

## Saving Filters

Once you have created your filter, with it applied:

1. Click the "Save" button.
2. Enter a name in the "Name" text box.
3. Click the "OK" button.

## Deleting Filters

1. In the GAP Portal, click "Filters" from the banner menu.
2. Select the filter you want to delete from the "Filter" drop-down list.
3. Click the "Delete" button.
4. Click the "Yes, Delete" button.
